XRD Expert / Lab Supervisor
Location: Houston - United States

The XRD Expert / Lab Supervisor is responsible for managing project logistics, preparing and analyzing XRD and FTIR analyses, reporting results and interpretations to clients in both digital media and client data review presentations.  Additional scope of work may include reporting financial projections to management, managing supplies and equipment needed to maintain lab operations, training and mentoring XRD technicians and cross training employees who are participating in fix-step training

 

 

Duties:

    Efficient, accurate, and reproducible preparation of XRD and FTIR samples.
    Expert in analyzing and interpreting XRD and FTIR data.
    Strong knowledge of geologic principles and how they relate to XRD analysis.
    Efficiently load, edit, and transfer data and files using approved Schlumberger secure methods.
    Maintain close relationships with other Schlumberger business segments.
    Identify additional business opportunities by seeking ways for continuous improvement and innovation.
    Complete the “end of job” accounting for a job and review with management.
    Participate in the structured technical training program (Fix-step Training).
    Participate in the organizations service quality meetings, forums and conferences.
    Comply with the applicable company policies including personnel, Business Systems, Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment Standards and procedures.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

    Bachelors or Masters of Science in Geology
    Minimum 5 years XRD experience

    Abundant experience with XRD and how it relates to geologic principles
    Knowledge of Jade software

    Can handle multiple projects of medium complexity
    Strong skills in techniques, tools, processes and practices within area of expertise
    Decisions will impact upon schedules and on individual operations
    Identifies problems and/or obstacles
    Shows ability to utilize other resources when necessary
    Applies broad knowledge and experience
    Remains effective at problem solving even under pressure

Leadership:

    Can lead a team of technicians
    Basic Project Management skills
    Basic Mentoring skills, provides assistance to less experienced employees
    Understands and shares XRD knowledge with employees in team

Communication:

    Good oral and written communication skills: Interacts with peer groups, subordinates and management within area of advising on their area of responsibility
    Practices active listening and uses a variety of questioning techniques
    Conveys information fluently, interpreting and clarifying details and explaining rationale
    Customer oriented, actively communicates with internal and/or external customers to ensure service level meets with expectations and handles customer dissatisfaction professionally and takes ownership for customer needs

Cross Discipline:

    Shows active interest in business world
    Able to plan ahead and provide reliable financial forecasts on expected monthly project activity

Managing the Assigned Task:

    Has functional and technical skills required to do the job
    Capable of actively participating in the setting of own objectives and identifies key requirements
    Capable to balance priorities
    Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship
