Fugro RailData is part of the Fugro Group of companies with offices worldwide and with the main office in the Netherlands. Our field of expertise is providing essential infrastructure information for rail professionals to help build a better understanding of existing assets to optimize design, construction and maintenance of rail infrastructure assets. For this purpose we develop, build and operate our own equipment, such as

 

Fugro’s rail infrastructure alignment acquisition system (RILA). The RILA processing software converts the raw measurements taken with the RILA hardware into railway geo-intelligence for our clients. The final products are built from processed video, laser vision and position data.

 

We are looking for a Software Developer to join our RILA software development team in our office in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Roles And Responsibilities

For our RILA R&D team we are looking for a Software Developer who has some years of working experience.

 

Your main responsibility will be to maintain the current generation of data processing software and to build (structure, develop, program and document) the next generation software. You will carry out research projects to improve existing methods and investigate new technologies. You will work in the following areas:

    Computer vision technology;
    Pattern recognition & automatic feature extraction from imagery or 3D data;
    Scrum working method;
    Matlab and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), such as Quantum GIS;
    Object Oriented Programming in Python; C#/.NET;
    Extending and interfacing with 3rd party software;
    Future work will extend into, among others; Continuous Integration and cloud based platforms (Linux) and distributed processing.

We are looking for candidates who are excellent, reliable and efficient. We require first class communicators that have a proactive and systematic approach with a competitive attitude and who are not afraid of a bit of mathematics or a technical challenge.

You are required to have:

    Several years of relevant working experience;
    willingness and ability to learn;
    The ability to take ownership of problems and deliver results;
    Good communication skills;
    Proficient in speaking and writing in English
